ComedySportz Starts a High School League
What is The ComedySportz High School League (HSL)?
The ComedySportz High School League (HSL) is the largest and most successful improv training program for high
school students in the country! You have the newest opportunity to participate as the league expands into the Greater
Boston Area. It will be comprised of various-sized teams of high school performers from different schools all around the
Boston area. Under the coaching of a professional ComedySportz player, student performers will train in both
showmanship and sportsmanship, ultimately competing in ComedySportz Matches against other schools in the league.
Why ComedySportz?
The ComedySportz HSL provides an extracurricular interest that goes beyond the stage and into everyday situations.
When students are trained in ComedySportz improv, they are trained in communication, confidence, quick thinking,
individuality and teamwork! The HSL teaches these skills in a safe and nurturing environment where “winning the match”
is a distant second to taking risks and personal growth.
How many people form a ComedySportz HSL Team?
There is no limit on the number of students you can have in a HSL team but a minimum of four students is required.
How does it all work?
Each week your school’s team will send 1 or 2 players to our all-school meet. There, the assembled students learn takehome
games/improv exercises to return to their home school and teach their remaining teammates. In addition, each
month a professional ComedySportz Player will come to your school for a personalized, two-hour workshop with your
school’s team. There will be additional opportunities for teams to compete against other HSLs on a regular basis at one
of ComedySportz Boston’s home theaters. Schools will also be able to conduct their own shows at their schools (a
potential fundraising opportunity).
Can my school join the ComedySportz HSL?
Whether you’re a teacher or student, you can start a ComedySportz HSL team at your school! Contact

What is the calendar for the ComedySportz HSL?
Spring of 2015 is the inaugural year of the ComedySportz Boston HSL. As such, we are initially running it as a half-year
program. Enrolling schools for the 2015 program have until February 13 to register. CSz player/coaches will begin
visiting schools the last week of February (those involved the METG High School Festival will begin after it.) The first allschool
practices will be t-accessible and are scheduled to begin March 7. Interschool matches are planned for after
March 28.
What is the cost to join?
Enrollment in CSz HSL is $250 for this first half-year program and $500 for each full year after that. There is an
additional charge of $30 per student for red and blue ComedySportz HSL shirts. These charges cover the costs of
instructors and space for shows.
What if we can’t afford it?
Try sponsorship! We can print the names and single color logos of up to five companies, local or otherwise, on the back
of your red and blue Comedysportz Hgh School League uniforms to fund your team. We will even provide a form that
your students can use to help try to solicit this sponsorship from local businesses.
Further, you will be able to host ComedySportz HSLshows at your schools. Boston Latin School has improv shows which
charge $3 for students and $5 for adults and easily make more than $500 from a single show. ComedySportz HSL
could potentially make money for your programs as a fundraiser!
We hope you will consider joining the ComedySportz High School League. It is a great opportunity for students to learn,
grow and interact with others who share this interest outside of their own school!
